Talking about past experiences

I use this PPT to practise present perfect and past simple questions, but also to know a bit more about my students. I make them ask and answer the questions and elicit vocabulary when necessary.

Reflection on Learning English

At the beginning of the school year, I asked my students four questions, and these were their answers (bigger answers are the most popular ones).

What do you find difficult in English?

What DON'T you want to do this course?

These are the adjectives my students in 4º ESO - E   have found to describe animals. I hope you find the list useful.

Introductions and classroom language

This is a presentation  I have used in 1º ESO (12 years old) to start the school year. The aim is to make them speak from the very beginning and get them know each other. There are several activities, but I collect them in a PPT in order to make it easier to handle in class. It contains links to files and videos, but you can download them in advance to use them offline.
The activity called "Name Whip" is very easy. It is a memory game in which one student says "Hello, my name is John". The next student has to continue "Hello, my name is Susan and he is John", the next says "Hello, my name is Peter, she is Susan and he is John",  and so on...

At a clothes shop

I am working with my students on the typical conversation at a clothes shop. Here you can see two versions of it: a comic and a video

Describing clothes

This is a useful presentation to practise clothes vocabulary and make students talk about what they are wearing. You can see it from slideshare or download it from here.

200th anniversary of Pride & Prejudice

200  years ago, Jane Austen's novel  Pride & Prejudice was published. I also want to join the celebration with some interesting links:

It is a very good opportunity to discover or re-read one of the most beloved English novels.

Celebrities' Biographies

Sometimes, it is very rewarding to use a celebrity's biography to motivate our students. At  www.bio.com    we have texts and videos that summarise these biographies. The videos have no subtitles, but they are short and have pictures that help a lot.
